Find Your Force Multiplier
I asked several people who spoke to me after a recent keynote what their biggest takeaway was - and I heard the same answer from all of them: my 20% impact.
It's also how you responded. A few weeks back, I asked what you wanted me to write about, and 37% of you said the same thing: Identifying the 20% that creates 80% of my results.
We all want more impact. To feel we are doing meaningful work, even significant work.
But the pressures of the day often pull us away from the work that is most significant to our impact. For many high achievers, this pattern feels familiar. We become so accustomed to powering through, responding to every demand, and carrying the weight of responsibility that we don't always stop to evaluate whether our effort is creating the impact we actually want.
I want to offer you what I typically offer only to my clients. A piece of my work that can change your second half of the year.
It's called the 20% Impact Worksheet - and it does one thing: it shows you, in black and white, where your time is going versus where your impact actually lives.
The worksheet asks you to score your activities on what they produce, how many they reach, and how long they keep paying out - and the math shows you your reality. No more guessing. In less than the time it takes to sip your coffee this morning, you'll gain insight, understanding, and awareness to make decisions for this week.
I filled out the worksheet myself this week ahead of this writing. I found it clarifying in the best and most uncomfortable way.
Coaching is the work I love most. It's where I feel most connected - in the room, in the conversation, watching someone shift in real time. And when I look at my calendar, it shows. It owns the majority of my week.
But the worksheet doesn't measure what you love. It measures what multiplies.
The work with the most reach - the keynote speaking, the content, the writing that lands in front of hundreds and keeps living long after I've left the stage - was getting the scraps of my time. The work that could reach the most people, that could keep paying off long after I created it, gets the least of my time.
Ahhh. I knew it. I know it. With awareness comes change.
Your significance is a direct result of your impact - and more impact doesn't come from doing more.
It comes from doing more of what only you can do, in a way that multiplies.
Download the Google worksheet and please make a copy of it before entering your information.
Find your force multiplier. Your 20% superpower is already inside your work. This is how you see it.
The second half of this year is still yours to shape. This worksheet is where that starts.
You know your time is your most valuable asset. Spend it like you know that.
I'd be very grateful to hear your feedback and to learn what you learned, what you saw, and what you want to do more of.
