One Bold Ask. One Bold New Possibility.

Your success is a factor of the number of bold requests you make. -Rich Litvin

Bold requests.

Boldly asking for what YOU want.

A common theme among high achievers is the need to do it all. Do all of the things. Create massive action.

And NOT ask for help.

Living powerfully is not having control.

Power is not control.

Power is influencing yourself and others.

What if your influence over you was as simple as making one bold request?

Recently, I worked with a dynamic high achiever who had lost sight of what her ‘next’ could be. She had achieved so much yet was striving for clarity around her new path forward.

So, I probed, asking, what do you want to do? (If you know me, you know I can’t help myself.)

She said….

I need to make a plan.

I then asked...

How have you successfully planned in the past?

I’d create a framework.

I asked, what frameworks work for you?

I kept asking to go deeper, to access detail, depth, insight, and discovery for several more rounds.

When we get stuck in the 'I don't know,' we are blinded by overwhelm, confusion, and fear.

Probing questions can lead to life-changing thoughts.

After a few minutes, her body language changed, and a relaxed and playful smile appeared. She shared:

I’d ask for help.

She then paused and broke the silence with:

I’d find someone in my network to ask for support.

She laughed.

It was a breakthrough. Boldly asking for help to help her make her plan.

Waiting and waffling and having a “let’s wait and see how this plays out” mentality doesn’t get the job done. That's the opposite of bold.

Life is not a waiting room.

If your success is a factor of your bold requests, what would you ask for?

Author, influencer, and business coach Dan Sullivan believes success is achieved with the WHO not the HOW. Who can I ask? Who can support me? Who is the right person?

Make a list and see what comes up. For all aspects of your life. For the people in your life. If you were to ask one thing from them to help you, to support you, to guide you, what would it be? Seeing this long list will help you see what's important to you and see things with a bit more focus.

I make it a practice to go bold in my asks.

Each week, I think out of the box and reach out to one person with a bold ask. I get more yeses than nos. Knowing this, the asks have gotten easier. When I started this bold ask practice, I would go into overthinking and ruminate about what they would think about me or how they would judge me.

Today, I'm focused on the possibilities of where a bold ask could take me. And, when I get a no, I know that they know I'm someone who makes bold requests.

Asking is not a sign of weakness. You get what you ask for. You don't get what you don't ask for.

The most potent leaders lead through influence. They influence through staying in the ask. The smartest people don't know everything. They are smart because they remain curious and ask questions to learn and grow.

Ask for what you want and see what boldly comes.

P.S. I'm thrilled to be featured in this Create & Cultivate article, where I shared my belief that the foundation for success starts with your mind. Scaling my business began with scaling my mindset and building belief in myself as CEO.
