Unlocking Peak Performance: The Power of Planning for High-Performers

You know you are moving in the right direction when you think to yourself…

I am so thankful to my recent past self for making this current moment easier than it would have been otherwise.

The work you put in now makes your future brighter and smoother.

One of my goals for 2024 is to plan further in advance.

I’ve learned the hard way I cannot be at ease or fully present if I’m worried about something that needs to be done or when running too tightly up against a deadline. That feeling zaps me of my power. Creates debilitating nervous energy. Suffocates who I want to be in the current moment.

We don’t know things until we really understand them.

When I understood the power that planning and preparing in advance had over how I was showing up, it was a game changer to more freedom and ease for me.

You might think, well, of course. But it struck me in a new way when I was self-coaching that I’m at my best when I’m prepared. Not just being prepared in itself, but the why behind being prepared.

I now understand that being in control was an outcome of my being prepared. When I feel in control through preparation, I feel safe.

Prepared >>>>Controlled>>>>SAFE

Preparation is a powerful safety device for me.

When I've felt unsafe in the past, it has shown up in imposter syndrome, lacking clarity around the outcomes I want, freezing on stage, an inability to speak, panic, and weighty self-doubt.

I used to think my safety came from others making me feel safe.

I’ve learned that no one can make you feel safe. The only one who can make you feel safe is you.

This took decades for me to know and understand. With awareness comes choice, and with choice, freedom.

This is the work I do with my clients to help them not only to know why they do what they do but to understand the why behind it.

Knowing is not understanding.

Creating awareness of the why behind your thinking and feelings is the power source of every result in your life.

I am working in advance of and in support of my future self.

I know that my future self will thank me for the work I do today for her.

What will you do this week in support of your future self? What will your future self thank you for?

Here’s to making your future brighter and smoother.

Asking for Feedback Please

It’s been over four years of Sunday Sunshine. My goal for this newsletter:

* Share 30+ years of corporate experience + one book + 3 kids/2 step kids + years of coaching and advising …..all condensed into actionable tips every week

* Help you grow personally AND professionally (“Success at all costs” is not something I subscribe to)

* Be the antidote to Sunday Scaries.

The emails from readers applying the tips every week show me how intentional people want to be in creating their professional and personal success. It inspires me to keep going.

It would help immensely to hear what is resonating in what I'm writing about and what you want in the future.

Please take this 6-question survey. (takes less than 60 seconds….. I promise.)
