Finding Wrong Inside of the Right

There was a big response to my post last week about creating a new relationship with accepting compliments. A reminder that our adverse engrained behaviors keep us from our highest potential.

That doesn’t serve us.

Another big one is finding the negative inside of your win.

You’ve had an amazing win, but you look for what could have been or should have been different. Sound like you?

I see high performers - especially women - achieve a 90% victory and then focus their attention on the 10% that fell short.

This is wrong on so many levels.

Debilitating and diminishing. Worse, it leaves a lasting imprint.

Finding the wrong inside of the right is self-inflicted punishment.

The negative analysis and self-talk NEVER change behavior. NEVER make us better. Yet we do it. Again. And. Again.

Each time, it gets harder and harder to see the beauty and accomplishment of the 90 percent.

Remember the 90%. It’s a win.

Self-celebration reinforces the idea that you can trust yourself to make good things happen.

I’m not talking about putting up a congratulations billboard in Times Square.

This trumpet-blowing is for yourself. It’s a practice of building confidence.

Claiming our wins is crucial for all of us to reinforce our unique abilities and buoy confidence—something everyone wants.

Focusing on 90% is a learned practice.

One Success Unleashed graduate shared this wonderful discovery:

“You go around acknowledging other people all the time, and when you take the moment to actually acknowledge yourself, it’s a little weird at first. What is so powerful now is the shift to acknowledging yourself every day, where it actually becomes something that you think, oh, I deserve that. I deserve to be acknowledged for that. We can't love others until we love ourselves.”

If 85% of success is driven by mindset, as stated by the Cambridge Institute of Technology research, then a practice of self-recognition is a pathway to success.

“When you celebrate yourself, you recommit to the person who is on the path to her destiny as dictated by her desires. Boast and brag enough, and you create a feedback loop. The more you self-celebrate, the more you’ll find to celebrate.” Kasia Urbaniak, Unbound: A Women's Guide to Power.

Your success is inside of the 90%.

Your future is inside of the 90%.

That 90% is your unique ability.

There isn’t anyone who gets it 100% right 100% of the time. (Bless those people who say or think they do).

You’re 90% - the thing you often neglect - is likely someone else’s dream of accomplishment.

Find your wins, no matter how small or big. Think about how you created them. Don’t be humble.

Here’s to the 90%!

P.S. Imagine having the confidence and clarity to turn "no" into a powerful "yes for yourself. The best next chapter of your life starts with Success Unleashed, where we celebrate you and your wins AND use them to uncover the ingredients to living your extraordinary life. Success on your terms.

***I have greater belief in myself. I feel confident and truly believe my mantra: I am love. I am joy. I am compassionate. I am smart. I am strong. I am enough. I deserve abundance. A year ago, these were statements, but not necessarily beliefs. Now they are.
